You are a bad mother.

It doesn't matter who you are. Because of something you do, you are a bad mother in someone else's eyes.

You didn't breastfeed.  You breastfed too long.

Your kid watches TV.  You don't own a TV.

You let your kid eat McDonald's.  You police everything your kid eats.

You don't vaccinate.  You vaccinate AND give your kid antibiotics when they have a cold.

You're lax on discipline.  You believe in spanking.

Your kid wore diapers until he was five.  You made your kid sit on the potty until he went.

Your kid's in daycare.  Your kid never leaves your side.

You let your kid sleep in your bed.  You let your kid cry it out.

You carried your kid all the time.  You sat your kid in a pack-n-play.

Your kid eats candy.  Your kid has never seen sugar.

Do any one of those things make you a bad mother?  No.  But, someone thinks they do!  Someone somewhere is whispering to her friends about you.  Someone somewhere has looked in disgust at your bad mothering.  Someone somewhere has decided that because of something she has witnessed, you, my dear are BAD.  Bad with a capital B-A-D!

So, should you care?  No.  Because someone somewhere is a bad mother, too.
